Upon arrival at CPT, clear immigration, and head to the arrivals zone where you’ll meet your concierge who will assist with luggage, and will hand you to your driver for hotel transfer.
Check in at Winchester House. Upon check in, we encourage you to take a stroll down the pedestrian boulevard along the ocean, located directly across from our hotel. This is Cape Town’s social gathering and “outdoor gym” hotspot.

Day 2 Saturday April 19th

Introductory tour of Cape Town: Drop off at entrance of Mount Nelson Hotel for a walk down Government Avenue and Company Gardens. Walk by the South African National Gallery, the country’s premier art museum, housing outstanding collections of South African, African, British, French, Dutch and Flemish art. Government Avenue has ornamental gateways guarded by the Stone Lions sculpted by Anton Anreith.
As we continue to walk down the Company's Gardens we can see the House of Parliament. We will learn about the life and legacy of Nobel Peace Prize winner, anti-apartheid activist, Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
This morning’s tour ends with free time to explore The Oranjezicht Market, a local’s favorite gathering spot for socializing while purchasing their weekly farm products, wine and arts and crafts -- all made with a sustainable approach. Here we enjoy an organic lunch at leisure.
After lunch, we head to Cape Peninsula. Located in the Cape Point Nature Reserve, Cape Point is the most southwestern point of the continent, as well as the longest peninsula in South Africa. Also considered a Natural World Heritage Site, here you will find dramatic scenery of endless ocean views. We will drive by quaint towns along the way down to Simon’s Town.

Day 3 Sunday April 20th
8:00 am Optional hike to Lion’s Head with our local guide.
Visit the iconic Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden nestled at the eastern foot of Table Mountain. Our second stop will be the NORVAL FOUNDATION, showcasing the works of world renowned South African artists. This stunning venue presents arguably the most carefully curated collection of African Contemporary Art in the Cape region.
Lunch and wine tasting at Steenberg Winery. Established in 1682, this farm features a magnificent tribute to its heritage.
After lunch, we head back to town to visit the historic Malay Quarter. Located up the slopes of Signal Hill above Buitengracht Street, we will find a residential area of people descending from Malay slaves and immigrants brought to the Cape during the Dutch occupation.
Free time at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront for some shopping time. Venture to the neighborhoods of Green Point, home of the stadium where the 2010 World Cup was held. Walk along the Promenade through Sea Point, Bantry Bay, Clifton, and Camps Bay.
Optional: Panoramic drive through the Southern Peninsula Ou-kaapse-we, Noordhoek, Chapmans Peak, Constantia-nek.

Day 4 Monday April 21th
After breakfast, we check out.
Morning Townships tour with local expert. Learn how these settlements have become a way of living for a significant portion of the mostly black population.
Visit District 6 museum. This historical site, located in an old Methodist church, opened as a museum in 1994, as a memorial to the forced movement of 60,000 inhabitants of various races in District Six during Apartheid in South Africa in the 1970s.
Lunch at Truth Coffee, rated the best coffee shop in the world. (You’ll see why)
As we drive to Wine country, we visit the Motor Museum, reminiscing 100+ years of automotive history. On display, you’ll find cars from the private collection of one of South Africa’s most influential business and philanthropic families.
Check in at Leeu House. Time to explore the charming town of Franschhoek, famous for the French cultural and agricultural influence brought in by Huguenot settlers in the 17th century. It is filled with galleries, souvenir shops and bistro-like outdoor restaurants.

Day 5 Tuesday April 22th
Stellenbosch: Our first stop will be the home-studio of one of South Africa’s most celebrated artists, Dylan Lewis. Its sculpture garden is an example of masterfully created shapes of the animal kingdom utilizing different materials and techniques. A tribute to the exuberant natural beauty of South Africa.
We continue with a brief walk through Stellenbosch. This historic town is renowned for a gracious blend of 18th Century Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian architecture, and is surrounded by vineyards, fruit orchards and stunning mountains.
Explore Boschendal, one of the oldest wine producers in the New World, with a French vinicultural heritage dating back to 1685. After touring the facilities, lush gardens and wine tasting rooms, we will treat ourselves to a French-style picnic beneath the fragrant pines.
Visit Babylonstoren. This estate combines traditional Cape Dutch architecture with a clean modern style. We will walk the lush, organic fruit gardens. This is also a strategic shopping opportunity.

Day 6 Wednesday April 23th
After breakfast check-out and depart for the airport. Flight from CPT to SZK (2 1⁄2 hour flight) to Skukusa. Light lunch will be served in-flight.
Upon arrival, we are welcomed by the local team and transferred to our lodge. We enjoy a light snack and unpack. Our first safari game-drive starts at 4:30 pm. African inspired dinner at the lodge.

Day 7 Thursday April 24th
Binoculars ready? Today, we enjoy the rising sun as we take part in an early morning safari game drive. This is going to be our first full day safari. Surreal experiences await as we immerse ourselves in the African Wildlife World.
There will be two safaris per day, one in the morning, and another in the afternoon, into the evening. The game drives are approximately 3 hours each.
Between safaris, relax by the pool, take a nap, treat yourself to a massage at the SPA, read a book, or simply enjoy the peace of your surroundings.

Day 8 Friday April 25th
Second day of wildlife exploring. Again, you may choose to take part in one or both safaris. Coffee & tea breaks are offered, as well as some drinks.
For those who enjoy sleeping in, our luxury lodge offers breakfast in bed as well as SPA treatments.
Seeking more adventure? Our safari guide and tracker might just offer a bush walk into the wilderness!
This evening, our lodge team has a special evening planned for us. We will we will experience a Boma dinner, our farewell to South Africa. Feast on a variety of traditional African dishes, such as grilled meats, stews, vegetables, and grains.

Day 9 Saturday April 26th
After breakfast, check-out and depart for the airport. We make it to JNB for homebound flights or extensions to other destinations.
Multiple American based airlines and several European carriers are among the airlines that can be used for this trip. We recommend booking at least 7 months in advance if you want to use frequent flyer miles.
South Africa does not require a VISA for U.S passport holders.
You must have a valid passport that remains valid six months past your return to the U.S. You should also have a minimum of two empty passport pages.

Please note that visas cannot be processed more than 90 days prior to departure and processing may take several weeks to complete. You may also apply directly at the Consulate in your area.
The Center for Disease Control suggests that all travelers be up to date on routine vaccines, including Chickenpox (Varicella), Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis, Flu (influenza), Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR), Polio, and Shingles. For this tour, it is especially important to be up to date on your Hepatitis A and B vaccines. The areas we will visit are not on sensitive zone with risk of malaria. We are traveling in April, which is the end of the summer, so the exposure to mosquitos is minimal. Consult with your physician about vaccines and whether or not to take Malaria pills.
All departures are guaranteed on a minimum number of participants. A Tour Manager will accompany a tour based on a minimum number of participants. This tour can be operated as a Private Tour, or can be customized/priced based on a final itinerary. Rates are based on a minimum participation of 10. For fewer than 10 participants, rates may be revised.
